Versatility Program Change PDF Print E-mail
Written by PRTAA
Wednesday, 08 July 2009

The Versatility Committee chaired by Catherine Tebbs requested the board to approve the revision of the criteria for Earthdog Hall of Fame.  Upon hearing the proposal of lowering the number of Irondog Legs from 8 legs to 5 Irondog legs the board did vote in favor of this revision.  The reason given to lower the number of Irondog legs was due to the fact that Earthdog Trials are not as prevelant in number as say agility trials and the distance exhibitors have to travel to ED trials is becoming a factor in these economic times.  We hope that anyone who has attained 5 Irondog legs will apply for the Earthdog Hall of Fame to be awarded at the PRTAA Awards Dinner and Ceremony.

In addition would all members please review all the individual categories headed under Versatility Awards to double check whether or not you'd qualify for any awards.  The deadline for application in these various categories is July 31st so please check out this area on the PRTAA website and make application.  Please note the individual listed you're to submit the application to along with proper verification and the application fee made out to PRTAA.

Lastly, we're asking for all Junior members of the PRTAA to let us know of your involvement in Junior Showmanship for the year 2008 so the club can acknowledge your participation. Please send a short biography with your name, age, activities, and dogs shown.  This is so all Juniors can be recognized as having participated in the sport of Junior Showmanship with Parson Russell Terriers with a certificate.

Thank you for your participation in the various aspects of our breed....the Versatile Parson Russell Terrier.

Judges Selection PDF Print E-mail
Written by PRTAA
Wednesday, 22 April 2009

Attention PRTAA members:

The nomination ballots for our 2011 National Specialty arecomplete and will be mailed this week. This is the first mailing of our adopted two step process.  Also included in this mailing is information for advertisements in the MCKC catalog. Please keep an eye out for this information-packed mailing.  The adopted judges selection procedure is as follows:

JUDGES SELECTION PROCEDURE

2011 NATIONAL SPECIALTY

Sweepstakes Judge: Each PRTAA member in good standing will be invited to submit up to three names for Sweepstakes judge for 2011.  Sweepstakes judges should not be limited to Parson Russell Terrier breeder judges or provisional judges.

Regular Classes Judge: Each PRTAA member in good standing will be invited to submit up to three names from the AKC’s list of judges with AKC regular status for our breed. Candidates must have judged the Parson Russell Terrier on at least two occasions. Assignments with major entries will be considered a plus. This will give us the assurance that a judge has suitable experience in judging the Parson. The committee will then select the ten (10) candidates with the most nominations and contact them to see whether they are available to judge in 2011. Should anyof the selected candidates be unavailable to judge in 2011, the next judge with the most nominations will be contacted. The committee will contact judges for availability in order of their appearance on the final list.  Please note: as we had sweepstakes and regular class judges from overseas in 2009, we will only consider judges fromthe USA and Canada for 2011.

No judge will be invited more than once within a 5-year period starting with the year 2000.

Members will be mailed a final ballot for the nominated judges, to be returned to the PRTAA Secretary. Members are allowed to vote for up to three judges, with weighted votes,i.e., Judge #1 is assigned three points, judge #2 two points, judge #3 onepoint. All ballots are to be returned in double envelopes. The outer envelope must bear the name and address of the PRTAA member eligible to vote. The inner envelope is marked “Ballot” and will be opened by three PRTAA members appointedby the Judges Selection Committee at a location to be announced to themembership.

All Judge’s selection balloting materials will be available for viewing at the October 2009 AGM, after which the materials will be sent to the AKC for archiving.

Thank you from the Judges Selection Committee,

 Mindy King, Chairperson

 Joan Scott
